Unterwegs 5
Vom 3. bis zum 17.November wird auf der GEDOK-Ausstellung Künstlerinnen „unterwegs“ im Stadthauptmannshof
in Moelln meine Videoinstallation „noMade transit“ zu sehen sein.
Das Video ist in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, während meines Aufenthalts hier gedreht worden… Ende offen – wie immer in Indien.
Ich dokumentiere u.A. das DIFF – Dharamshala International Film Festival, das Ritu Sarin, Festival Director, und ihr Mann Tenzing Sonam, beide Dokumentarfilmer und Videokünstler, voriges Jahr initiiert haben. Meine Kamera ist diesmal so schön klein, dass ich sie in meiner Handtasche mit mir herumtragen kann, denn ich liebe die Überraschungen, die Indien wieder bereithält.
In Dharamshala kommt und geht eine internationale Gemeinschaft, unter ihnen viele Künstler. Die Meisten wohnen hier einen Teil des Jahres, treffen sich, arbeiten vielleicht zusammen, folgen Vorlesungen vom Dalai Lama und Anderen und gehen in Meditations-Klausuren. Ein weltweites Netzwerk und ein inspirierender Ort mit Menschen, die man sonstwo eher selten trifft. Der Entwurf einer offenen Gesellschaft – Archipel… und meine zweite Heimat.
Hans Kuretzky, der Vorsitzende der Stiftung Herzogtum Lauenburg – vielen Dank Hans!- hat meine Videodateien geschickt bekommen, was sich als eine noch viel schwierigere Aufgabe herausstellte, als ich mir vorgestellt hatte. Ich bin tagelang in der Gegend herumgerast, um einen Schneideplatz zu finden, bis ich endlich in Sidhbari, notabene bei mir um die Ecke, das fantastische Team von „metataste“ fand. Eine Kooperation von jungen Kuenstlern, Designern, Regisseuren und Programmierern, die mir sofort ihre Computer zur Verfuegung gestellt haben und mich mit ihrer Professionalitaet und Freundlichkeit schwer beeindruckt haben. Sie haben mir Essen und Tee gebracht und waren immer zur Stelle, um zu helfen. Sie wohnen, arbeiten und essen zusammen in einem grossen Haus in Sidhbari. Alle Entwuerfe des Dharamsala Filmfestivals sind von Pratyush Singh von metataste, der u.A. auch als Schauspieler und Theaterregisseur arbeitet.
Eine Internetverbindung zu finden, die meine recht grosse Datei verschicken konnte, war die naechste scheinbar unloesbare Aufgabe. Bis Pritam vom Cybercafe Sharma in Sidhbari auf die Idee kam, sie des Nachts hochzuladen.Hat acht Stunden gedauert!!!
Ich habe die letzten zwei Wochen in Sidhbari bei meiner Freundin Kishwar in einer Lehmhaussiedlung gewohnt, die Didi Constructor entworfen hat, eine Künstlerin, die mit 60 Jahren ihre vierte Karriere, diesmal als Architektin, begonnen hat. Sie ist mit ihren 85 Jahren noch immer am Bauen, im Moment in Australien.
Seit gestern wohne ich in Thoesamling, einem grossen Kloster für Frauen, das Tenzin Sangmo gebaut hat, in dem auch Nicht-Nonnen meditieren, Dharma-Unterricht folgen und die tibetische SAprache lernen koennen.
Bestimmt besuche ich Pratyush und sein Team nochmal, und jetzt, da das Video „unterwegs“ ist, werde ich fotografieren und schreiben.
Und, wie gesagt, Ende offen…

From 3 until November 17, my video installation “ noMade transit“ is to be seen at the GEDOK-Exhibition, „on the road“ in Stadthauptmannshof in Moelln, Germany.
The video has been shot in India, Himachal Pradesh, during my stay here … Open end – as always in India.
I document beside others the DIFF – Dharamshala International Film Festival, that Ritu Sarin, Festival Director, and her husband Tenzing Sonam, both documentary filmmakers and video artists, have initiated last year. This time my camera is pretty small, so that I can carry it around in my handbag with me, because I love the surprises that holds India back.
In Dharamshala an international community comes and goes, including many artists. Most live here part of the year, meet, maybe work together, follow lectures by the Dalai Lama and others and go into meditation retreats. A worldwide network and an inspiring place with people you rarely meet elsewhere. The design of an open society – Archipelago … and my second home.
Hans Kuretzky, chairman of the Duchy of Lauenburg Foundation – Thanks Hans! – got my videofiles sent over, which turned out to be a much more difficult task than I had imagined. I raced around for days in the area to find a video-editing place, until I finally met in Sidhbari the fantastic team of „metataste“. A collaboration of young artists, designers, directors and programmers, who immediately made me their computers for disposal and have impressed me with their professionalism and friendliness. They brought me food and tea, and were always on hand to help. They live, work and eat together in a large house in Sidhbari. The drafts of the International Dharamsala Film Festival are designed Pratyush Singh of metataste, who also works as an actor and theater director.
To find an internet connection, which could send my rather large file, was the next seemingly impossible task. Untill Pritam from the Sharma Cyber Cafe in Sidhbari came up with the idea, to upload them in the nighttime. It took eight hours!
I have lived the last two weeks with my girlfriend Kishwar in Sidhbari, a settlement of adobe-houses, which Didi Constructor has built, an artist who has, at the age of 60, started on her fourth career, this time as an architect. She is still with her 85 years designing and building, at the moment in Australia.
Since yesterday I stay in Thoesamling, a large monastery for women, which Tenzin Sangmo has built, where buddhist nuns and lay women can stay for meditation-retreats and lessons in Dharma and Tibetan language.
Definitely I will visit Pratyush and his team again, and now that the video is „on the road“, I will take pictures and write.
